Grace like Rain

Can you feel it?!

It is pouring down all over you! Look up, close your eyes, taste it on your lips, and then take a drink from the only source that can satisfy your deepest longings.

God's grace is like rain pouring down all over me and my stains are COMPLETELY and TOTALLY washed away.

Just post it....

So, blame it on getting older, being too busy, or whatever you please, but I just can't remember things lately. I forget doctors appointments, forget that I am babysitting for someone, what day it is, etc...What has been working though is if I put post it notes in the kitchen (where I spend a large portion of my time) to help me remember what is going on, which is working by the way. Well, this is what I found this morning (of course left by my darling husband)... I thought I was forgetting to do something....better get busy!

Kindness

Open up the skies of mercy and rain down the cleansing flood
Healing waters rise around us. Hear our cries Lord let 'em rise. It's your kindness Lord that leads us to repentance
Your favor Lord, is our desire. It's your beauty Lord that makes us stand in silence
Your Love is better than life.

We can feel Your mercy falling

You are turning our hearts back again. Hear our praises rise to heaven.

Draw us near Lord. Meet us here.

It's BACK.....

Yes, the stomach bug...I caught the dreadful sickness. (Wednesday afternoon) Thank you God that I was able to recover a bit from the girls being sick and catch up on laundry, cleaning etc...before crashing myself. I haven't thrown up like this since I was pregnant, so it was good reminder of just ONE of the many reasons we have chosen to not have any more children. As most of you mothers know...life doesn't stop when you get sick , it continues on the same, and you just have to suck it up and continue along with it. We were blessed with another beautiful 12-14 inches of snow a few days ago, so the girls have had a blast with that. and this is how my free nights have been spent...

Gift from the Sea

I just finished reading, Gift from the Sea, by Anne Morrow Lindbergh, and it is a MUST read for women of all ages!! (I will include some of it's beauty below)"Unless I keep the island-quality intact somewhere within me, I will have little to give my husband, my children, my friends or the world at large...women must be still as the axis of a wheel in the midst of her activities, that she must be the pioneer in achieving this stillness, not only for her own salvation, but for the salvation of family life, of society, perhaps even our civilization."
"This is not the life of simplicity but the life of multiplicity that the
wise men warn us of….it leads not to unification but to
fragmentation…it does not bring grace…it destroys the soul."
This is a great book to keep on your nightstand and to read every few years if not more. (Also a great gift for a busy mom)

It is NOT OVER....

Yes, I thought it was over and we even went somewhere yesterday, but I was mistaken and my poor Nora started throwing up this morning...but it is a beautiful, gloomy, day to cancel plans and keep things slow.

Discovery Stop

Fun day at the discovery stop today. No time for a real post, sorry.

POSTED WITH CAUTION

Why caution?! Because my darling husband has been blogging again and he took this picture, so this may be considered 'stealing blog material' I am not sure. He is usually very creative though so I am sure he has something great to say about Mr. Tumnus, our pet chameleon, who is hanging from his tail 'hunting', I think, he is really fun to watch. Well, if you see this post suddenly missing from my blog in the next few days, you will know why.

Feeling Better!!!!

Yes, everyone is feeling better, and we had a few warm days that we just couldn't sit inside for, SO....we went for hike. We went through our woods to find our fort that we made in the fall. The girls had a blast exploring in the snow and the air was so warm that we were able to stay out much longer than usual.

Here is our fort, yes, I know, it doesn't look like much of a fort, but I have 3 little peanuts helping me out, so give me a few years.

The fort is next to a cute little stream.

We had some great melting going on today but still when I took the dog out I sunk in at least 9 or 10 inches. It felt a bit like Spring today and I know many people will be angered at me for saying so but I DON'T WANT SPRING YET, I want to enjoy winter a bit longer, so I am excited to see the temps drop back down to normal. (Don't hit me!)

I may have a problem...

As I was making my bed this morning, I glanced over at Kevin's nightstand (below) and then my own...I read a lot, what can I say. I am not patient enough to stick with one book at a time, as you can see. In my defense though, 3 or 4 of those books are books that I haven't started reading yet, but they are just too beautiful to place anywhere else, I like to sleep next to them and run my fingers through the pages occasionally, just anticipating our journey ahead, and I am attempting to read through all of Austen's books before they make their appearance on PBS, just to have it fresh in my mind. Yes, I know, I may have a problem.

For the love of food?

or just the book....

A great cookbook I own. It is delicious and when I get around to trying more of the recipes I will let you know how the food matches up as well. Yes, that is just something about me that can drive my husband crazy. I fall in love with the words and pictures before I even taste the food. When we go out to eat I sometimes read the descriptive menu items to Kevin and then giggle after...because, yes...I am a sucker for those things.
(the above food picture was from the book, with some minor changes of my own and the girls loved it.)

Weekend...what weekend?

This morning Kevin reminded me that it was trash day and I responded with, "What, today, today is Monday?!" That should fully explain the kind of weekend I had. It began on Saturday with Emma throwing up...she continued throwing up through the night every 30-40 min until 11 on Sunday. She still felt miserable the rest of Sunday and then Sunday night Hannah took over and was up the entire night and now I am on day 2 of no sleep, with sick kids and not feeling very well myself.

Always trying to help mom

Emma handed me the remote (that was dripping with water) and said, "Here mommy, I saw that it was dirty, so I filled up the sink and put it in the water and washed it for you."

Dog in training

Yes, the girls have this 'thing' that they want the dog to pull them around in 'dog sled style'. The dog doesn't have that same 'thing'.

Hannah

My sweet Hannah. She follows me everywhere I go and wants to help, watch, whatever she can do to be with me. She continually asks me, "Mommy, do you like snakes?" so she can hear my, "No, I don't like snakes." so she can say, "We are the same mommy, we both don't like snakes." (I get asked that at least 3 or 4 times a day). She loves to create...there are many times throughout the day that Emma and Nora are playing and she is cutting, gluing, taping, coloring, etc...not just pictures for herself but cards for so many that come to mind. Of course many of the things she makes are for me, but I have loads of things on my desk that she wants me to hand out of mail to someone. She is so very thoughtful, gentle, loving, and considerate. She has a beautiful heart, and I am so proud to be her mommy.

Fred

Yes, this is our buddy, Fred. He has a son that the girls named Ice cream Man, but he doesn't come very close to the house so we can capture him on camera.
